Football in Belgium

Football is the game which is played in Belgium for more than a 200 years, and that’s why this is the most popular game in the country. The football association in Belgium named Belgian Football Association is founded in 1895 year. National team of Belgium played first match in 1904 year and it takes 11th place in FIFA all time table. Best performance of the national team is one 3rd and one 4th place in World Cup , one 2nd and one 3rd place in European Championship and a gold medal from Summer Olympic Games.

Since 2016 league system was reconstructed and till now is formed by:

Belgian First Division A (Pro League) – 16 clubs
Belgian First Division B – 8 clubs
Belgian First Amateur Division – 16 clubs

Each season in Belgium is one event named Belgium Cup and in it take participation in different round all teams from top three division and some of the Amateur clubs.
