Football in Poland

Football in Poland is governed by Polish Football Association, and this is the most popular sport in the country. The association also represents National football team of Poland which participate in international football tournaments. Best performance for the Polish National Football Team is two third places in FIFA World Cup during 1974 and 1982. In UEFA European Championship the team best achievement is quarter-finals during 2016 in France. Poland takes 15th place in FIFA all-time table.

  • Ekstraklasa – 16 clubs
  • I liga – 18 clubs
  • II liga – 18 clubs

Each year, Polish Football Association organize two national football torunaments. First one is Polish Cup which is knock-out tournament. Each club which is registered in Polish Football Association can participate in the Polish Cup. The winner qualifies for UEFA Europa League. The other event is Polish Super Cup – a single match tournament between champion of Poland and the winner of Polish Cup.
