Ередивизие

This is highest football division in Netherlands, created in 1956 year and contains 18 teams. Each team plays 34 matches during the season, 1 “home” and 1 “away” against every other team from the division. Ranking is changed after each match and teams are arranged according points won. At the end of the season top 2 teams are qualified for UEFA Champion League. The 3rd is qualified for UEFA Europa League, and depending from UEFA ranking 4th team qualifies directly for UEFA Europa League or plays a play-off with next 3 teams for a spot in UEFA Europa League. Last team in the division is directly relegated to lower Eerste Divisie and it`s spot is taken by the winner of Eerste Divisie. Clubs ranked at 16th and 17th place are participating in play-offs with teams taking place 2nd to 8th from Eerste Divisie to determine which 2 teams will play in highest football division for next season.
