Serie B is second-highest professional football league in Brazil. Same as Serie A it contains 20 clubs which are playing against each other for a total of 38 matches. Each team play 2 matches against every other member of Serie B, one “home” and one “away”. Each club is ranked in a table according to points won, number of victories, goal difference and goals scored. Top four clubs at the end of the season are promoted to highest football division named Serie A, and their spots are taken from last four clubs in Serie A. Last four teams in Serie B are relegated to lower football league named Serie C, and their spot are taken from winners of Serie C paly-offs.
