Football in Greece

Football in Greece is governed by Hellenic Football Federation. First official matches are played in 1927 year. National football team of Greece plays it`s first match in 1929. The national team qualifies 3 times for FIFA World Cup and 4 times for UEFA European Championship. Best performance is 1st place in UEFA European Championship. Greece is ranked 52nd in FIFA all-time table.

Each year Hellenic Football Federation organize two big football tournament in Greece named:

Greek Cup where participate all clubs from all football divisions in Greece
Greek Super Cup – single match event between season champion and winner of Greek Cup

Greek league system includes total 4 divisions of football clubs. Top two of them are:

Super League Greece – highest football division, built by 16 clubs
Football League– second-highest football division with same number of clubs - 16
