Football in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia Football Federation was founded in 1956 year from Prince Abdullah bin Faisal al Saud. This is gouverning organization of football league system and national football team of Saudi Arabia. National football team is one of the Asian best teams. They have qualified 5 times for FIFA World Cup, and their best positions is reaching Round of 16 of the tournament. Also national team won 3 times AFC Asian Cup and 3 times finished on second place.

The Saudi Arabia Football league system is built by 3 football leagues named: Saudi Professional League - highest football league in the country - 16 clubs, the second one is Saudi First Division - 18 clubs, and the third highest is Saudi Second Division, built by two groups, each of them with 10 clubs.

Each year is launched national football tournament, named "King Cup". The competition rules was changed during the years, but since 2014 year, 153 football clubs participate in this competition.
